The law firm now known as Walk & Murphy, P.L.C. was founded by its original members in 1966. We are a full service law firm practicing in a wide-variety of legal areas consisting of:
- Workers' Compensation Law
- Wills and Trusts
- Probate and Estate Administration
- Real Estate Law
- Personal Injury
- Bankruptcy
- Business Organizations
- Business and Commercial Law
- Tax Law
- Estate Planning
- Family Law, including Dissolution of Marriage (Divorce) and Adoption
- Criminal Prosecution
- Litigation and Appeals
These areas of practice have grown to serve the new and varied needs of our clients in a rapidly changing legal environment. We provide this comprehensive range of legal services to individuals, businesses, and government entities. We are county attorney for Mitchell County, Iowa and legal counsel for various cities.
We have obtained jury verdicts and settlements for our clients in District Court (including for personal injury) and have obtained awards and settlements for clients in Workers' Compensation proceedings before the Iowa Workers' Compensation Commissioner.
We also represent clients in dissolution of marriage (divorce) actions, as well as custody actions. We realize divorce is a difficult time for our clients, and in addition to advocating for our clients, we help clients understand the issues involved and how the myriad of issues involved relate to each other.
We also help individuals and businesses form corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships and other business entities. In addition to organizing these entities, we also advise our clients to the nature and advantages, as well as disadvantages, to any particular entity. We also provide tax advice and tax preparation for individuals and businesses.
In addition to the above areas of practice, we also represent individuals and businesses in matters regarding real estate disputes and transactions.
Finally, we also handle many probate and estate administration proceedings, as well as help clients with estate planning needs. In addition to handling the probate of estates, we also represent individuals in estate administration disputes.
As you can see, the two of us handle many areas of practice, and we have a competent, professional staff to assist us. Of course, we maintain and develop our skills not only through regular legal practice, but also through regular legal education. Our mission is to retain and develop clients by providing effective and practical solutions. We work to resolve our clients' legal disputes fairly, and when negotiations do not work, we advocate for our clients in Court.
